Oswego High School is currently offering the Talent Search program from Labette Community College. Marna Taylor, the director of the program in this area, has been meeting with students at the high school. Talent Search is a federal program that identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. Providing academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encouraging them to graduate from high school and continue on to post-secondary school of their choice, are the primary goals of talent search. The Oswego chapter has become increasingly more active of late. They recently joined members from other areas and journeyed to Wisconsin for a leadership conference in November. "The workshops at leaderships conference were very educational and opened my eyes to the opportunities for my future," stated Beth George, member. "Talent Search has been very helpful in finding the college I want to go to," said Jaimie Johnsen, member. Anyone interested in the Talent Search program should contact Marna Taylor at Labette Community College.
