Both Oswego High School Scholars' Bowl teams earned first place
in the Three Rivers League Tournament on January 11. The tournament
was hosted by Williamsburg this year.
The Varsity team lost one game by only 5 points in pool play.
They defeated Marmaton Valley 60-30, Chetopa 40-10, Altoona 80-20
and Crest 60-10. They lost to Uniontown by a score of 25-30. In the
semifinals, they faced St. Paul and won 30-10, and then avenged
their only loss of the day by soundly defeating Uniontown 50-20.
High scorer for the team was Caleb Hays, scoring 120 points. Hannah
Keener scored 90, Josh Wilson 50, Molly Fuller 50, Derek Thomas 20
and Eric Spencer 15.
The Junior Varsity team went undefeated all day, and doubled or more than doubled their opponents scores. In pool play they defeated Uniontown 60-30, Altoona 80-40, Crest 80-40, and Marmaton Valley 60-20. They defeated Jayhawk-Linn 80-10 in the semifinals. The finals saw them winning over Uniontown again with a score of 50-20. Jackson Oldham was high point man with 210 points, followed by Brad Feagan with 120, Laura McConnell with 60. Brittany Atherton and Courtney Kirkpatrick contributed 10 points each and Anthony Miller rounded out the team.
Coaches Kris Redburn and Cathy Campbell are very proud of these great students. They are proof of the quality education they are receiving at Oswego High School.
