100th Day Celebration

By Jamie Gott

February 02, 2007

On Wednesday, January 31, the kindergarten and first grade classes at Neosho Heights celebrated the 100th day of school.  There had been quite a lot of anticipation for the event, since we had been talking about it since the beginning of the year.
Each child brought a collection of 100 "somethings" and displayed them in the lunchroom.  Then the children were divided into small groups and went from station to station participating in activities around the 100 theme.
The first station was looking at all the displays and filling out a book about the collections.  Then they decorated a crown with 100 stamps, thought of 100 words to write, counted 100 cubes and put them in a row, put together 100 piece puzzles, colored a page with 100 items, made trail mix with 100 items, jumped rope 100 times, made a necklace with 100 Froot Loops, and wrote numbers in shaving cream.
We really appreciate our parents and grandparents who came to help: Kayley Bortmes, Marla Cook, Dee Overman and Anna Lee Stephens.  We also had the support of several other teachers and paraprofessionals during the afternoon: Susan Bates, Crystal Carson, Glee Clark, Alyson Heflin, and Tana Pape.  Last but certainly not least, we had a grocery items donated by all the parents. Thanks to everyone who helped make our day a success!!
