Having Fun in RTI
by Tiffany Sponsel
October 10, 2007
Ms. Sponsel's 1st Grade RTI class had fun putting word cards together to make sentences. RTI, which stands for Response to Intervention, is a program that was started last year. RTI is for K-1 students this year. Ms. Sponsel's students have been reading the book: Clifford and the Halloween Parade by Norman Bridwell. By taking the words out of the book and putting them on individual note cards, they were able to put the sentences back together and read the words. Every child was involved in the process of finding the cards AND reading the sentences once they were finished putting them together. At the end of the activity, they were able to take an A.R. (Accelerated Reader) Test for the first time, over the book. It was exciting to see them having so much fun learning!
