2/3 visits Chile without leaving the classroom

by Tammy Dickerson

December 14, 2007

Mrs. Wimp's 2nd and 3rd grade class had a very educational and entertaining day December 5th. Mrs. Hayden's (SV food service assistant) daughter Katie and her husband Luis came to teach us about Chile. They are missionaries in Chile. Katie grew up here and is a former student of Service Valley. She is married to Luis, who is from Chile. They reside there, but are back for awhile visiting Katie's family.

They taught the kids how to greet someone in Spanish, and special catch phrases. They talked about where Chile was located in South America and what foods are eaten there. They also danced The Cueca, the national dance of Chile. Luis taught the kids two different games that the kids play in Chile. The kids were thrilled when Luis brought Chilean money for the kids to look at and he even gave them coins to keep. We would like to thank our special visitors for taking the time to share their knowledge with us. We had a wonderful time.
