Flat Stanley Returns Home

by Phyllis Ross

January 11, 2008

Our little flat friend, Flat Stanley, has returned to Neosho Heights from his travels around the United States.

Three Flat Stanley's learned more about the state of Kansas.  Rex's Flat Stanley visited Dickerson's "Crown D" Farms. When he returned he told us how they feed their Polled Herefords and what they look like, red with white faces and no horns.  He also told us what it was like to visit the American Royal and described the Flint Hills on his visit to Wichita. He also described many interesting places to visit in Wichita.  He had a great time visiting Crown D Farms.

Lacy's Flat Stanley went to Columbus to visit his Grandparents.  He traveled to two other states, Oklahoma and Missouri.  He had lots of fun with his other relatives.

Ethan's Flat Stanley also went to visit his Grandmother.  Grandma Peggy lives in Galena and she and Flat Stanley had a wonderful time visiting the Galena Mining and Historical Museum.  Flat Stanley came back with lots of interesting facts about our neighboring town,  He told us the town was named for the bluish-gray lead found there in 1877.  In 1898 about 30,000 people lived in Galena, now it's population is about 3,200.  He brought back wonderful pictures of himself at the museum.  There was a really cool one of him sitting on a 1919 Model -T Ford.  Then he visited the SEK Nature Center at Schermerhorn Park.  Again, Flat Stanley returned with wonderful pictures that makes us all want to visit the park.  He had a great time with Grandma Peggy and his pictures look great on our wall.

Rachel's Flat Stanley went for some fun in the sun on his trip to California.  Flat Stanley visited his Aunt Algene in Apple Valley.  He brought back two pictures of her beautiful home for us to see.

Jayly's Flat Stanley went to visit her cousin Edie in Iowa.  He reported back to us bringing postcards and pictures from "the corn state".  He told us how to detassle the corn in a field and that the Wild Rose is the state flower. He had lots of fun visiting Edie in Iowa and is looking forward to going back someday.

Kendra's Flat Stanley went to Texas.  He had a chance to visit Reuben's school.  He brought back lots of pictures with the students and a very good message---Say No to Drugs!

So Flat Stanley is home again and on our wall.  Feel free to stop by and view our pictures and letters and have some learn learning about other states with Flat Stanley.
