SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP LIST – JANUARY, 2008
1. LCC is having a FINANCIAL AID NIGHT for seniors and their parents from high schools in the county if you are interested. The date is Saturday, Feb. 9 at 5:00 p.m. in the LCC Thiebaud Theatre on campus.
2. Baker University recruiter will be here Feb. 11.
3. Delta Sigma Phi fraternity at K-State will award two $500 Loren Mall Leadership Scholarships based on grades, ACT, school and community activities and leadership roles. See Mrs. J for an application. Deadline is April 1.
4. Are you interested in life science, analytical and enjoy problem solving or are you a creative thinker interested in design or video production? If so, you could be the winner of a $2,500 scholarship. Labs Are Vital, a global program sponsored by Abbott to highlight the important role clinical laboratory professionals play in healthcare, has developed a scholarship contest on the popular social networking site Facebook. Students will be challenged to find an innovative way to illustrate to their peers why clinical lab science is a cutting-edge and rewarding profession to pursue. You must submit a video, advertisement, or T-shirt design that causes others to consider careers in clinical labl science. A total of three $2, 500 scholarships, six $1,000 scholarships and nine iPhones will be awarded to contest winners and runners-up. The last day to submit entries for consideration is March 7. 5. Coffeyville Community College is offering their Kansas Enhancement Scholarship to Kansas students awarded scholarships in the following activities: art, broadcasting, Ag (FFA), livestock judging, meats judging, rodeo, horticulture, athletic training, band, orchestra, choir, dance, cheer, theatre, student council, Native American, (Title VII or JOM). This scholarship will allow most students to pay less than $1500.00 per semester for room, board, loan of books, tuition and fees. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OF THE ACTIVITIES, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!
6. Don’t forget that the Respiratory Care program at LCC is the only program of its kind in Southeast Kansas!
7. Feb. 1st is the deadline for scholarships at K-State!
8. North Central Kansas Technical College has developed a partnership entitled “The Gateway Plan” with Fort Hays State University. You can enroll at NCKTA-Hays Campus and have access to all the amenities of the traditional Ft. Hays State University student. You will enter into one of the three pathways. See the bulletin board for more information.
9. Engineering Day at K-State is February 15. Deadline to
register is Feb. 1.

Scholarships based upon ACT and GPA.
11. Community National Bank is offering a $500 scholarship from each of their branches for next year. Eligible students must enroll at PSU for the fall semester 2008. Each scholarship recipient will receive $250 per semester. See Mrs. Johnson for an application form. Deadline is March 12.
12. If you are interested in majoring in a Family and Consumer Science field or related family issues field, there are two scholarships available: the Faye E. Miller Vice scholarship which is for $300 and you must be attending KSU with a deadline of March 30 and the KAFCE scholarship with a deadline of May 1. See Mrs. J for an application.
13. The Kansas Junior Golf scholarship has a deadline of April 4. The grant is $1250 per school year and is renewable for up to four years. Download an application at www.kansasgolf.org, click on “Kansas Golf Foundation” and follow the links for “Scholarships.”
14. The National Farmers Farm Kids for College Scholarship has awards of $1,000 based upon your application and accompanying materials to your County National Farmers coordinator by March 10. See Mrs. J for an application.
15. Mediacom is offering a $1000 Mediacom World Class Scholarship based on academic performance, leadership skills and financial need. See Mrs. J for the easy application that is due before April 1.
16. USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships for $1500 has their application online at www.usafunds.org/scholarship. Deadline is February 15.
