Traveling to the Director's Chair
Oswego FCCLA Officers Visit Wichita

April 16, 2008
On April 3rd and 4th, a Thursday and a Friday, Oswego's own FCCLA officers traveled to Wichita, Kansas, for the 62nd Annual State Leadership Showcase. Officers are: Brittany Atherton (jr.), Kelsey Brake (sr.), Stuart Keener (so.), Courtney Storm (sr.), Eden Tullis (sr.), and Trae Wimp (sr.).
To jump-start everything, evening entertainment was provided on Thursday night with a formal dance and comedian. Bright and early Friday morning, the officers and their advisor, Mrs. Bray, ventured to what is called the Century II building where the main ceremony was held. The theme this year was "Broadcast Yourself!" and state officers lead members to the director's chair when they told of Kansas FCCLA and its current status.
Also, there were two main keynotes speakers: Matt Bellace and Kelly Barnes. Mr. Bellace spoke of having a natural high or a hobby of some sort while Mr. Barnes left an impression as he stated these words,"We don't lack opportunities. We lack people who want to pursue them." Finally, this group returned home Friday evening feeling tired, but they truly had the ultimate leadership experience!
