Pittsburg State University hosted its Nineteenth Annual Young Authors' Conference on April 12th. Thirty-one area schools attended the conference, totaling over 400 young authors present. Among these 400 impressive young writers, were Neosho Heights' twelve!
Students were asked to write and illustrate stories from any genre to be judged by a panel of staff members. After meeting specific criteria, students from grades 3rd-5th were chosen to represent our school.
With much thanks to PTO, our authors were given the opportunity to dine-out with their peers and then meet award-winning author, Eric Kimmel. Students were also given the chance to visit and share their literary works with other exceptional young authors from the surrounding area. The conference concluded with a closing ceremony in which students were honored with an award certificate and an autographed book.
The students really enjoyed sharing their stories, meeting new faces, and gaining new information to help them grow as young writers!
