Ladybugs all dressed in red
Strolling through the flowerbed.
If I were tiny just like you
I'd creep among the flowers too!
Service Valley students got up close and personal with a cluster of ladybugs.
Ladybugs are not only cute - they are useful! During the spring and summer, they feed on aphids and some scale insects. They are extremely beneficial for both agricultural and horticultural crops. During its lifetime a ladybug may consume as many as 5,000 aphids. Ladybugs may be red, orange, yellow, pink, white, and black.
There are about 450 species in the United States.
