EGG BUSTER FOUR

by Theresa Farris

April 06, 2010

A CHICKEN HAS EAR LOBES!

K/1 students have been learning about the different types of chickens that we have at SVCA.
We have discovered that chickens have combs (top of the head), wattles (beneath the beak), and ear lobes (behind and below the eye).   YES EAR LOBES! The breed of the chicken actually determines what color of egg the chicken will lay, but for the layman the color of the ear lobes can help determine the egg color.
If a chicken has colored ear lobes it will lay a colored egg. If a chicken has white ear lobes it will lay a white egg.
