SURPRISE!!!!!!!!
More Than Expected
By Rod Monroe

The 6-8 science students of Service Valley Charter Academy have been studying reproduction of plants and the parts of flowers. Mr. Monroe picked his wife’s only tulip and brought it to school for dissection. However, the class found more than expected. The tulip had a large number of aphids, commonly known as greenbugs. So the class got an additional lesson in entomology. As Mr. Monroe dissected the flower the class got on their laptops to research aphids and found much interesting information including a video of ladybugs eating the pests. Mr. Huff, using his superb tech skills, was able to photograph some of the microscopic observations enjoyed by students and teachers. Learning can be fun, but don’t tell the students.
