Oswego High School recently received the National Blue Ribbon Award in the fall of 2011. The Blue Ribbon Award is given to very few high schools in the nation, and OHS is proud to be one of them. This accomplishment is very exciting for the school. Students and staff cannot help but show enthusiasm on a daily basis. Oswego High School has National Blue Ribbon rugs, banners, plaques, and flags displayed throughout the school. The school hosted a community wide celebration at the high school basketball game Friday, January 13th. During this celebration the Superintendent, Terry Karlin, spoke about the award and how much it means to the district. Senator Umbarger and Representative Proehl attended this celebration and spoke to the crowd as well. At this celebration, any student who was wearing an Oswego National Blue Ribbon Award shirt was allowed to enter the game for free and received refreshments that included hot dogs, beverages, and cake. The Board of Education served this variety of snacks and beverages to the community, students, and faculty. Everyone attending the game enjoyed the refreshments and were able to celebrate this great honor with the high school. Oswego High School is tremendously proud of this achievement and enjoyed sharing the excitement with the community. OHS appreciates all who came out and helped celebrate this award!
