Elliott Admitted to Accelerated Medical Program

Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Mo., has signed an exclusive partnership, called the Yours to Lose program, with Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, offering students an opportunity for early admission to KCU medical school.  This advanced program allows up to 25 Missouri Southern students to be admitted to KCU medical school at the same time they are accepted to MSSU.  The Yours to Lose program is one of the first of its kind in the nation.  Students earn a bachelor’s degree in biology from MSSU in just three years, then students seamlessly begin their first year of medical school at KCU’s Joplin campus.  Opportunities exist for students to work with current KCU medical students in medically-related environments.

Elijah Elliott has been selected to become a member of the inaugural class of 2017.  Elijah is the son of George and Beverly Elliott.  He will graduate high school in May at Oswego Jr./Sr. High School as co-valedictorian.  A combination of Elijah’s GPA, ACT scores, involvement in extra-curricular activities, application, and interview earned him a place in this advanced medical school program.  Elijah plans to complete a genetics residency after medical school.
