Compassion in Action
Monday, December 02, 2019

OJSHS is putting a spotlight on the respectful actions of Chris Goddard.  Chris is a senior and involved in many activities such as football, band, chess, basketball, baseball, scholars’ bowl, National Honor Society, Student Council President, science club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and his church worship team. Teachers report that Chris is the definition of a respectful student and the kind of student they can count on to do the right thing. Furthermore, they appreciate the example he sets for others.  When asked what respect means to him, Chris explains, “Respect simply means treating others the way you would want to be treated and bringing a smile to someone’s face.”  Last school year Chris presented a student assembly on "The Power of a Smile" as a part of the Greenbush Student Leadership Academy.  He encouraged all students to take the time to care for others, demonstrate kindness, and spread a smile.  When asked what Chris likes about our school he says, “Our teachers care for their students. They want their students to succeed, and they are not afraid to work one on one to help a student in need. Our school has a caring staff.”  Chris plans to attend Pittsburg State University majoring in engineering.  Thank you, Chris, for the light of respect you shine in our school and community.
