Other facilities may have stricter restrictions as per their local health departments and administration. 1. 2 parents/guardians per participant family are permitted to be admitted - no substitutions. 2. Children, adult siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends do not meet the KSHSAA criteria for admission. 3. Masks are to be worn properly at all times. Non-compliance will result in being asked to leave the facility as well as removal from the admission lists for future contests. 4. Participants include: Players, Managers, Cheerleaders, Pep Band, Student Journalists. 5. Coach’s spouses/significant others may attend but Event Staff are not afforded that opportunity, as per KSHSAA interpretation. In addition, during this time period, the concession stand will be open but food and drink will not be permitted in the gymnasiums as consumption would require the removal of your mask.

We would like to clear up some misinformation that may be going around. As a district, it is not our intention to close schools. However, as cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, we would be doing your students a disservice if we were not ready for the possibility of having to shift to remote learning. We have asked our teachers to be ready in the case we would have to transition to remote learning. Please know if this happens, it will not be our choice. We are all aware that students learn best in person rather than in a remote situation. This is the same message we have given our teachers since August. We will continue to release information as we have it. As of now, this is all the information we have.

Under normal circumstances, Oswego Junior/Senior High School welcomes visitors to our building. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic is a difficult time for all of us and times have changed dramatically. Safety is our number one priority and we must do everything we can to prevent the spread of the disease and protect our students, faculty and staff. To minimize risk, visitors will not be allowed in the building during the school day. Doctor appointments and other off-campus activities, including lunches, are discouraged. Everyone is encouraged to schedule those activities outside of the school day when possible. Anyone leaving the building will need to check out through the office. Upon their return, they will be required to check back in, have their temperature taken and sanitize their hands before returning to their school schedule. Everyone is also encouraged to routinely check the school calendar for event cancellations or changes. Protocol involving athletic contests, both inside and outside, will be sent out at a later date.
Any OJSHS student wanting to participate in upcoming athletic camps need to have an updated physical and concussion & head injury release form. The forms can be found on the documents page of the Oswego Junior-Senior High School website.
A final reminder to call the school office (620-795-2125) to schedule your enrollment slot for Thursday or Friday (8/6-7). We only have around half of the students currently scheduled. Scheduling a time slot will help us in our goal of keeping everyone as safe as possible.
Enrollment for Oswego Junior/Senior High School will take place on Thursday and Friday, August 6th and 7th from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling the school (620-795-2125) beginning Monday, August 3rd. The first day of school will be Wednesday, August 26th with the exception of college classes. The All Sports Parent Meeting that was originally scheduled for the evening of August 6th has been cancelled.
The Labette County Health Department has exempted the county from the state-wide mask requirements and the City of Oswego has concurred. With that, we will once again open up our summer weight and athletic workouts beginning tomorrow (Tuesday, July 7th). KSHSAA has recommended the wearing of masks pending local control. Participants are welcome to wear masks but masks will not be required. Our coaches will continue to clean equipment and social distance when possible.
Oswego's summer weights and athletic workouts will remain suspended pending the county's announcement in regards to the governor's recommendations from last week. Further details and updates will follow.
We are ready to resume summer weights and activities immediately at the coach’s discretion. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time. Please look for an announcement later this week on possible changes to our schedule. Thanks
Reminder to all that summer weights and activities are postponed until further notice. Thanks for understanding, and we will let you know as soon as possible whenever we will be able to open back up, hopefully very soon.
Summer weights and athletic workouts will continue to be temporarily suspended until further notice due to a possible exposure to a Covid19 case. Thank you for understanding as we will update as soon as possible.
Summer weights and athletic workouts are suspended temporarily while we investigate a possible exposure to a COVID case.
Graduation information and details for the general public have been posted in the "News" section of the school website and app.
Graduation details and information for June 20th have been sent to the Seniors and Junior Marshals. Please check your school email for that information. Details and information for the general public will be posted next week.
A graduation date, time and location has been set for honoring our Class of 2020. Graduation will be held on Saturday, June 20th in Riverside Park in Oswego. The ceremony will begin at 12:00 (noon). Details will be posted in the "News" section of our website the week of graduation. More detailed instructions will be sent out to the Senior class using their school email addresses.
May 13, 2020 With the end of school, assignments and school materials returned, the final detail of the school year is the graduation of the Class of 2020. Unfortunately, graduation plans have not been able to be finalized as the school, city, county health department and state regulations from the Governor's office all need to be aligned. We will continue to update through this medium as well as through student emails. We encourage all students to continue to monitor their school emails throughout the summer.
May 7, 2020 The last day of school when all work needs to be in is May 14th. Here are a few reminders about returning items to the school. You DO NOT need to set up an appointment to return textbooks, library books, uniforms, chromebooks, etc. Uniforms are to be in a bag with your name on a notecard inside. Books and uniforms are to be left on the table indicated for your grade. Chromebooks need to be turned in to the office. Office hours are 8:00-11:30 and 12:00-3:30. All items need to be returned to the school by May 22nd.
April 30th Two weeks from today is the final day of school, May 14th. That day is the last day students have to turn in work to their teachers. Next Monday, May 4th, our second and final round of hard-copy progress reports will be printed and sent out reflecting student grades through Friday, May 1st. This is our final push towards the official end of the school year. Office hours at the school remain the same: 8:00-11:30 and 12:00-3:30.
April 23rd, 2020 Progress reports are being sent out for assignments through April 21st. Another round of progress reports will be sent out at the end of April/beginning of May. Any missing work through April 21st has been given a zero. That work may still be turned in and the assignment grade modified. PowerSchool is still available for parents and students to monitor assignments and grades. The last day of school and the last day to turn in assignments is May 14h. We continue to remind and encourage students to finish and turn in their work early.
April 16th, 2020 We have had several questions regarding returning items to the school when the time comes. Next week, the tables that have been used to distribute items TO the students will be switched over to receiving items FROM the students - when the time comes. As a general rule-of-thumb, we would like ALL items returned at one time but only after ALL class work has been completed. Returned items include textbooks, washed uniforms, library books, chromebooks, etc. The final date to return all school items will be May 22nd, regardless of whether or not the student has completed their work. Please keep an eye on the school calendar. Many, many events have been cancelled, but some items on the calendar are still happening. Others have not been rescheduled just yet, such as Graduation. Finally, we want to continue to encourage all students to remain in contact with their teachers and finish their work for the school year. The workload is extremely reduced but still requires the time, effort and production from the student.
April 8, 2020 Continuing Learning is underway and we want to encourage every student to maintain contact with their teachers. The teachers are required to be available to students every school day during the specific times outlined in our revised master schedule. The only non-school day between now and May 14th is Good Friday, April 10th. We also want to encourage every student to establish a goal of finishing their school work well before May 14th. The individualized nature of distance education allows each student to take advantage of the opportunities to finish their work at their own pace, including early. A recent email to the students addressed some issues regarding grades, grading and KSHSAA eligibility that everyone should review. Finally, please contact the school if you should need anything. Call the office to schedule a time to come pick up items from a teacher or from the school. Office hours during continuing learning will remain 8:00-11:30 and 12:00-3:30.
Mass Media needs your pictures to fill our Student Life pages! Please send home or work pictures or selfies to firstname.lastname@example.org. We want pictures of you watching Netflix, eating lunch, checking cows, riding your four-wheeler, playing your guitar, playing video games, etc.
April 2, 2020 Yesterday an email was sent to every student's school email address. Teachers will be available for the students and students are to be available for the teachers under a modification of our master schedule. 1st hour - 8:00-8:30 2nd hour - 9:00-9:30 3rd hour - 10:00-10:30 4th hour - 11:00-11:30 5th hour - 12:00-12:30 6th hour - 1:00-1:30 7th hour - 2:00-2:30 Seminar - 3:00-3:30 Our target date is to finish all of our course work by May 14th, but many classes will be able to be finished up early. Students can schedule a time to come retrieve their personal belongs from the school by contacting the school office. Teachers may also have educational material for the students to pick up at that time. In addition, students may request education items from a teacher or the school and schedule a time to come pick the item up. Yesterday, the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) cancelled all spring activities and festivals for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The removal of those items from the school calendar DOES NOT imply that events currently remaining on the calendar have not or will not be cancelled. Many events will need to be cancelled and those cancellations come from different sources. We realize that this is a difficult time for everyone. Please be patient as decisions are made by the many organizations and entities involved.
