On Monday, Oct. 23rd, junior high students from OJSHS and SVCA participated in the initial mentoring event. The program is funded by a grant sponsored by Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas with the goal of allowing junior high students the opportunity to become involved by connecting with positive role models within the community to help build supportive relationships with peers and adults. The first event was a "Picnic at the Fields" where students and mentors had a picnic together and played games. More mentoring events are scheduled throughout the 23-24 school year. It's a great day to be an Indian!
