Arlen and Kathy Harris are cancer survivors. Two years ago, Arlen contracted meningitis. After the devastating storm that hit Oswego on July 11th, 2020, Arlen fell off his roof while doing repairs and had to be life-flighted to the hospital. The charitable organization Indian Muscle is conducting a fundraiser to honor Arlen and Kathy Harris and provide them with assistance for their medical expenses.
The fundraiser will be held on Thursday, April 29th, at the OJHS track meet in Oswego, and the home OHS softball and baseball games against Northeast H.S. then again on May 13th at the Three Rivers League Track Meet in Oswego. Donations will be taken at each event or mailed to the school at:

At approximately 1:00 pm this afternoon, April 22, the fire alarm at Oswego Junior-Senior High School sounded due to some maintenance work on the HVAC system. The alarm activated from the presence of smoke produced during the maintenance work. No fire was present, nor was also anyone injured. USD 504 conducts multiple drills throughout the school year for readiness in the event of fire, tornado, or crisis. All systems are back to their normal operational status.

There were two items regarding COVID-19 procedures at USD 504 that were voted on and approved by the school board at the regular April meeting held on Monday, April 12th.
First, the BOE voted unanimously (6-0) to approve the modified quarantine effective immediately. Therefore, if your child has a secondary exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and they are asymptomatic, they are allowed to remain in school & ride the bus. However, they are required to wear a mask & social distance. If they are symptomatic, they must quarantine at home & see their primary care provider for testing. The modified quarantine procedure is outlined in the flowchart in this link. https://5il.co/ri7l
After some discussion, the BOE voted (5-1) to suspend the mask mandate & temperature checks for the remainder of the school year as Labette County & KSHSAA have suspended the requirement. The suspension of the mask mandate and temperature checks takes effect immediately. If you so choose, your child may still wear a mask as you see necessary.
For questions, please contact your child's building, where they regularly attend.

We have scheduled a special Q&A Night for Thursday, April 8th at 7:00 in the Junior/Senior High commons for parents of this year's 5th and 6th grade students as we continue to prepare for their inclusion in the Junior High next year.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held remotely on Wednesday and Thursday, March 17th and 18th from 4:30-7:00. Please call the school office at 620-795-2125 to schedule your appointment. Thank you.

Gate fees for Sub-State Basketball games are $7 per person - adult or student. Our students will only need to pay $5 to attend our home game on Friday night.

Try to use the east parking lot this evening for our basketball game. Our traditionally used gravel parking lot across from the school still has some snow on it and should only be used if needed.
Thanks
