The archery teams will be traveling to Pittsburg Saturday, Jan. 18 for our second tournament of the year. Our original schedule had us attending two meets on that date. Southeast has moved their meet to Feb. 8. We will not be shooting at Southeast on Jan. 18.

Today the Oswego archery teams traveled too Liberal for our first tournament of the year. Boy did we represent our school! All we did was come home with 12 medals and 3 trophies. I honestly can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching these kids shoot. They never cease to amaze me with how much they improve each year. We have some extremely dedicated kids and coaches. Am extremely proud of our archers and the coaches for all they do every day to improve. Our middle school bullseye team placed first with a score of 3190 with 111 tens shot. Compare that to 3011 last year with 70 tens shot. What an impressive day for our middle school team. Our middle school also competed as a team in the 3D shoot for the first time in school history. We have had individuals compete. Have never had enough for a team. All they did was secure a second place finish with a score of 1514 with 40 tens shot. The winning team from Carl Junction shot a score of 1543. The elementary school placed first also with a score of 2403 with 31 tens shot. Last year at this time we shot a team score of 2255 with 20 tens shot. Pretty impressive improvement from them also. The high school did not have enough to form a team. We hope in the near future that we will have enough to complete a team. We also had 30 archers shoot their career best scores Saturday. Those shooters with PR scores were:Matthias Shaw 261 3D, Axel Santana 237 3D, Kobe Hazel 219 3D, Chloe Rhodenbaugh 259 3D, Elizabeth Dalton 257 3D, Andelyn Johnson 251 3D, Brooklynn Hazell 235 3D, Michael Varner 281 Bullseye, Elizabeth Dalton 275 Bullseye, Amelia Head 268 Bullseye, Skyler Neblett 260 Bullseye, Paris Clifton 260 Bullseye, Emily Wible 252 Bullseye, Camron Edmond 244 bullseye, Emma Barnett 219 Bullseye, Oakley Gatton 210 Bullseye, Elias Smith 210 Bullseye, Ryder Collins 208 Bullseye, Samuel Byrd 200 Bullseye, Xitlally Santana 195 Bullseye, Orrin Fuller 181 Bullseye, Jackson Gilley 180 Bullseye, Adelynn Queen 155 Bullseye, Kenzie Rion 123 Bullseye, Brayleigh Blake 121 Bullseye, Madison Spencer 113 Bullseye. Top five archers in each division earned medals for their efforts. Those receiving medals were: Matthias Shaw 3D, Chloe Rhodenbuagh 3D, Elizabeth Dalton 3D, Andelyn Johnson 3D, Michael Varner Bullseye, Matthias Shaw Bullseye, Elizabeth Dalton Bullseye, Skyler Neblett Bullseye, Camron Edmond Bullseye, Odalys Santana Bullseye, Cage Miller Bullseye, Xitlally Santana Bullseye. Trophies were awarded to the top three teams. Our middle school bullseye, middle school 3D and elementary bullseye teams all secured trophies. I can’t say enough about how we performed today. We have been shooting pretty well in practice. Sometimes that does not translate to tournament day. We definitely showed up on the big stage today. Next Saturday we travel to Pittsburg for our second tournament. I anticipate we will do well and can’t wait for that day to arrive. Thank you goes out to everyone that traveled to Liberal to show their support for all of our archers today. Was a great day to be an Indian. We also had two archers shoot two perfect rounds of 50 Saturday. Both Michael Varner and Matthias Shaw shot perfect rounds. Congratulations to both of those archers. Other students participating on Saturday were Cage Miller, Raylan Gilliland, Allison Becker, Junior Martin, Kross Fuller, Gabe Spencer, Jaxon Blair, Landyn Kratzer, Amelia Owens, Sydney Huebner, Ava Edmond, Maicee Wimp, Isabella George, McKenna White, Chance Mills, Brody Braun and Justice Spunaugle. Middle School team first place 3190 111 tens (3011 last year 70 tens) Middle School 3D team second place 1514 40 tens (first place had 1543) Elementary team first place 2403 31 tens (2255 last year 20 tens) I would just like to add a little more to what we accomplished yesterday at Liberal. Our team score of 2403 ranks us at 169 out of 355 elementary teams in the United States. Our team score of 3190 ranks the middle school team at 44 out of 591 middle school teams in the United States. As far as individual scores go. Skyler Neblett is ranked 133 out of 4981 elementary boys. Elizabeth Dalton is ranked 235 out of 4991 middle school girls. Michael Varner is ranked 124 out of 4901 middle school boys and Mathias Shaw is ranked 176 out of 4901 middle school boys. Axton Myers is 295 out of 5000 high school boys. To make this list you would need to be in the top 300 in your division. We had a pretty good day yesterday.
