Summer Cross Country 2025
We will meet on Wednesday every week to do some training and team building activities. We will always meet in the park unless I let you know different. We will start the Wednesday after memorial weekend. The date will be May 28. We will meet for an hour between 9:00 and 10:00 in the morning. We will just plan on meeting one day per week for now. If schedules allow, we might start meeting two days a week. No matter how many days we meet, you are still encouraged to run on your own on those days we don’t meet. Below are some websites that you can go and check out some summer camp opportunities. Check them out if you are interested in going to a camp. Participation in summer activities and camps is not mandatory but is encouraged.
Memorial day is on May 26. We have been offered the opportunity to help put up the flags at the cemetery and get paid for doing so. I have accepted the offer. Let me know if you will be able to help put up flags on May 26. Some of the money will go to the cross country team to help pay for our trip to Rim Rock this year. In order to receive the money we will need cross country runners to help. If we don’t have runners help then we won’t receive the money. We will need to be there ready to put up flags at 6:30 am and take them down at 5:00 pm. We need to be there for both sessions.

On Tuesday, May 27 we will have an archery ceremony to recognize all of our archers for the great season they had. The banquet will start at 6:30 and will be held in the cafeteria of the elementary school in Oswego. Please let me know if you will be able to attend so I can get a count of how many will be there. Please bring any archery shirts you have to the banquet to hand in. If you have paid for your shirt you won't need to turn it in. Thank you and we hope to see you on the 27th.

We had 28 archers travel to Louisville, Kentucky May 8th, 9th and 10th. There was 33 states and 877 schools represented in this tournament. It was a tremendous showing for both our elementary team and middle school team. Our elementary team shot their season best scores in bullseye and 3D both. Our middle school team was a little off of their best. They had a very good tournament however. I thought out shooters really stepped up against the best competition we have faced all year. Several qualified for Worlds which was a great accomplishment. The most impressive performance of the day came from Chloe Rhodenbaugh. In the history of our archery program we have never brought home hardware from this tournament. Chloe missed bringing home a medal by one place and one point. Just finishing 6th was a big deal. It would have been a huge accomplishment for her and our program if she could have secured that first medal. I could not be prouder of our archers that performed. It would have been easy for them to feel that they were in over their head with the great competition they faced. We did not do that! We shot just like we were shooting in a local tournament. Great job to all of our Indian archers. You were great representatives of our school and community.
These people shot their best scores of the season: Jazlyn Folk 263 BE, Aralynn Tun 261 BE, Oakley Gatton 259 BE, Odalys Santana 257 BE, Bryson Royer 250 BE & 207 3D, Jackson Gilley 249 BE & 228 3D, Stephen House 242 BE, Pateince DeMoss 211 BE, Madison Spencer 209 BE, Allison Becker 198 BE, Kenzie Rion 193 BE, Chloe Rhodenbaugh 279 BE & 289 3D, Matthias Shaw 276 3D, Paris Clifton 248 3D
We had two archers shoot perfect round of 50. Chloe Rhodenbaugh shot a 50 in 3D and Michael Varner shot a 50 in bullseye.
We also had a record number of archers qualify of the Worlds Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In order to qualify for the prestigious event elementary archers had to shoot a score of 255 or better, middle school 275 or better. Those scores were for 3D and bullseye both. Those qualifying were Matthias Shaw in both 3D and bullseye, Chloe Rhodenbaugh in both 3D and bullseye, Michael Varner bullseye, Jazlyn Folk bullseye, Aralynn Tun bullseye, Oakley Gatton bullseye and Odalys Santana in both 3D and bullseye

This past weekend, a group of our talented students traveled to Marion, Kansas, to compete in the 2A State Speech and Drama Championship Tournament — a major accomplishment in itself! With 35 schools and 258 entries represented, the competition was fierce. We’re incredibly proud of all our students who made it to state for the first time: Ian Holding and Allysen McCready competed in Duet Acting. Noah Keele and Kaylyn McCready competed in Improvised Duet Acting (IDA) — and made us especially proud by advancing to semifinals, then finals, and ultimately bringing home a 6th place state medal! Also joining us was Kimber Littlepage, who qualified for state as well. Although she didn’t compete this time—since her IDA partner had already qualified—we were proud to have her with us as part of the team and to celebrate her achievement in qualifying. Congratulations to all of our performers on your hard work, dedication, and for representing our school so well on the state stage! It's always a great day to be an Indian!

Come support the OHS Cheer team tomorrow!
